I'll start by saying I ordered this vest in early August and it is 15,000 degrees outside in the South with around 200% humidity, so no, I have not put it through the rigors of wear yet. I guess you could consider the 80 pace walk from the mailbox back to the house a test as I opened the neatly wrapped package and quickly wiped the pouring sweat from my brow.
Initial thoughts: Love the color, the look is great with a subdued King Ranch running W on the chest zipper pocket. Fit was excellent. Stitching seemed secure, no pulls or fraying that I could see.
The "oh, but I wish it had. . .": a draw string cord in the bottom hemline would be nice, but the vest hangs nicely and isn't too long. I do wish the vest had different pull tabs on the zippers. They are black nylon with gray plastic tabs. I think King Ranch shop missed the mark here as they could have incorporated a leather King Ranch pull tab or tassel from each zipper giving it that extra heritage look. I know it's hard to complain, but I do wish King Ranch would add a sticker in their packages. Why not advertise by adding in a sticker for vehicle, drink cup, cooler, or anything else (I see it as free advertising, but I am a sticker guy). I digress . . . back to the vest.
The collar was nice and the arm sleeve holes were perfect for a long sleeve shirt to fit in (no pulling or bunching on the sleeves).
Even though I currently live in the sauna that is called Mississippi in August, I hope to make this my go to work/ fall vest whenever this forsaken heat ends. Seems to be just as nice as some of the other "outdoor brand" makers. Look forward to one day wearing it. Due to not actually being able to wear it out on multiple occasions, I am giving 4 stars. Get it while you can, I was lucky enough to get mine on sale.
