DICK KLEBERG WORKING SADDLE

The patented King Ranch Saddle Tree was designed by Richard M Kleberg, Sr. when he was manager at the Laureles Division of King Ranch. Dick and his brother, Bob, produced an improved breed of cattle when they developed the Santa Gertrudis. They also needed stronger horses and saddles to hold those "improved red bulls which could weigh up to 2500lbs." A metal "strainer" is attached between five layers of skirting leather to give the saddle additional strength and comfort as a working saddle.
